Tottenham 1 Burnley 0: Eriksen snatches victory at the death

Christian Eriksen struck in injury time to give Tottenham a 1-0 Premier League victory over Burnley on Saturday.

Sean Dyche s men withstood the pressure in front of a sparse crowd at Wembley, thanks partly to two excellent saves from goalkeeper Joe Hart, until substitute Eriksen scored in the 91st minute.

Mauricio Pochettino made five changes to the team that drew with Barcelona this week, handing a first Premier League start to 18-year-old Oliver Skipp, and his side certainly lacked their customary cutting edge against a rigid Burnley rearguard.

However, the introduction of Eriksen proved crucial as Spurs moved back to within five points of league leaders Manchester City.

Bellingham signs new Sunderland contract amid Premier League interest

Jobe Bellingham has put pen to paper on fresh terms with Sunderland, signing a new contract with the club until 2028.

Bellingham, the younger brother of Real Madrid s Jude, made 45 Championship appearances last season, and having only arrived at the Stadium of Light a year ago, made an instant impact in his debut campaign.

He registered eight league goal contributions (seven goals and one assist) last campaign, a total only bettered by Jack Clarke s 19 (15 goals and four assists) in the Sunderland squad.

The 18-year-old was the subject of Premier League interest during the transfer window, with both Crystal Palace and Brentford reportedly targeting a move for the midfielder, but has chosen to remain with the Black Cats.

He grabbed his first assist of …

Giroud to hold talks with Chelsea

According to a recent report from L’Equipe, Chelsea forward Olivier Giroud is set to hold talks with the club as he goes after some assurances following a distinct lack of playing time as of late. The veteran forward has only started one game in the Premier League so far this season, with some of the younger stars being given the priority spots. Giroud isn’t exactly said to be passionately going after a move away from Stamford Bridge, but at the same time, he is definitely going to entertain the idea if and when Frank Lampard lets him know that he isn’t going to be featured all too regularly in their first team plans from this point on.

The expectation is that a side like Inter Milan could make a move as they’ve already noted how interested they are in the French…

Ronaldo asks about life in China

As Sky Sports report, Brazilian coach Luiz Felipe Scolari has told Esporte Interativo that Cristiano Ronaldo has asked him about the perks of living in China.

The coach and the player have worked together when Scolari was in charge of the Portuguese team between 2003 and 2008, and Scolari is now employed by Guangzhou Evergrande.

Ronaldo apparently asked Scolari about the life in China more than once, and the Brazilian cannot see why the star wouldn t play there one day. Scolari is of the opinion that a person like Cristiano Ronaldo, with his brands and an industry, would find endless opportunities in such a large market as the world s most populous country is. He also said that not every player experiences China in the same way.

Ronaldo started this season ext…

Vidal to snub Manchester United

According to a recent report from Gazzetta dello Sport, Barcelona midfielder Arturo Vidal is willing to say no to a move to Manchester United during the January transfer window. The idea behind this would be for him to instead go after a move to Inter Milan, where he would be reuniting with former boss Antonio Conte.

Vidal is a tough customer and has always been viewed as a consistent member of any midfield he’s played in, but even with that being the case, he still doesn’t appear to be capturing the imagination of Barca fans during his time in the first team.

There are always going to be plenty of options for Vidal in regards to where he could go next with his career, and at this stage, all he seems to desire is first team football of any description. Cons…

All we can do is keep the pressure on Man City, admits Milner

James Milner was pleased Liverpool put the pressure back on Manchester City in the title race after taking over top spot again on Sunday.

Jurgen Klopp s Reds returned to the Premier League summit thanks to a hard-fought 2-0 win away at struggling Cardiff City, Georginio Wijnaldum and James Milner scoring the goals in the second half.

The result lifts Liverpool two points ahead of their rivals, though City do still have a game in hand going into the closing weeks of the campaign.

Pep Guardiola s side can leapfrog over the leaders with victory against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Wednesday, though Milner admitted Liverpool are at least making it tougher for the reigning champions to retain their crown.

All we can do is keep the pressure on them and…

Chygrynskiy: Ronaldo not better than Messi because he´s selfish

Cristiano Ronaldo is not the best player in the world because he is selfish unlike Lionel Messi, claims former Barcelona defender Dmytro Chygrynskiy.

Real Madrid s all-time leading goalscorer Ronaldo has won four Ballon d Or awards and he is expected to join Messi on five this year.

However, Ukrainian Chygrynskiy – who spent a year alongside Messi at Camp Nou in 2009-10 before returning to Shakhtar Donetsk – heaped praise on his former Barcelona team-mate.

Cristiano is a good scorer, but he is not the best in the world because he is selfish, Chygrynskiy, now playing for AEK Athens, told Cadena Ser.

Messi is different, he always thinks of the team.

Ronaldo, 32, has had trouble scoring his season, finding the back of the net only once in seve…

Bartomeu resigns as Barcelona president

Josep Maria Bartomeu has resigned as president of Barcelona.

The LaLiga club announced on Tuesday that Bartomeu and the entire board of directors have chosen to step down with immediate effect following a meeting.

Bartomeu had insisted on Monday there was no reason for him to resign ahead of a vote of no confidence against his leadership, which was expected to be held at Camp Nou this weekend.

However, the 57-year-old has changed his mind due to the ongoing institutional problems at the club and the risk of possible exposure to coronavirus that Barca members would face if they went to vote.

4 Only Josep Lluís Núñez (seven) have won more titles (football male) than Josep María Bartomeu (four level with Joan Laporta Agustín Montal) as President eve…

Aubameyang emulates unwanted Arteta feat with goal and red card at Palace

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang emulated an unwanted feat last achieved by his current head coach, Mikel Arteta, when he was sent off in Arsenal s Premier League match at Crystal Palace on Saturday.

After opening the scoring for the Gunners in the first half, Aubameyang was sent off midway through the second period with the score at 1-1.

A poor tackle from the Arsenal captain on Max Meyer was initially punished by referee Paul Tierney with a yellow card, but a VAR review resulted in Aubameyang being sent off.

As a result, Aubameyang became only the third Arsenal player to score and be dismissed in the same Premier League match and the first since Arteta also saw red at Selhurst Park in October 2013.
